Always by Nicola GriffithThird novel featuring kick-ass Norwegian ex-cop Aud Torvingen. A brilliant continuation of the series; she's recovering from Julia's death, but gets caught up in sinister property disputes in Seattle. She's still smart, still uber-capable, but in Always we see her vulnerability and progression toward a more human (and humane) existence. Awesome.
